Complete Issues

Articles, statistics, personal accounts and links to websites on a wide range of topics. 

To access the Complete Issues site, click the link above. You will then be taken to the Moodle Home screen – click on the top right-hand corner of the page to log in with your college email and password.  A page will then be displayed which contains a link to click to access Complete Issues, and below the link the Username and Password required to access the site are also displayed. 

Emerald Insight

Full text articles covering Health and Social Care, Business and Strategy, and Marketing.

Gale News, Business and Reference

Access to a large range of online reference materials including journals, newspaper archives and e-books. 

Hodder Education Magazines

A collection of journals covering a wide range of subjects such as; sociology, business and science. You need to register on the website to gain access to the resources. If you need assistance, ask a member of the library staff.

National Library of Scotland

A range of databases from the National Library of Scotland. They cover many subject areas and include e-books, newspapers, journals, audio-visual resources and images. You need to register on the website to gain access to the resources.

Expert authors combine facts, analysis, new insights, and enthusiasm to offer concise and original introductions to a wide range of subjects.

Website offering a collection of videos and other resources covering many subjects.

Economic and Social Research Council

Website for the UK’s largest organisation for funding research on economic and social issues, providing information on research, collaboration, news, public engagement and career and skills advice. 

History Extra

The official website for the BBC History magazine, BBC History Revealed and BBC World Histories magazine. 

Inclusive Language Guide
Oxfam’s Inclusive Language Guide helps people think about how the way they write can subvert or inadvertently reinforce intersecting forms of inequality.

The language recommended is drawn from specialist organisations which provide advice on language preferred by marginalized people, groups and communities.

The British Psychological Society

The representative body for psychology and psychologists in the UK. Site provides information on policy, research and guidelines, psychometric testing and career advice. 

The Society Pages

An open-access social science project run by the Department of Sociology at the University of Minnesota, hosting information on new sociology research, articles, blogs and podcasts.

Most of the books for your course will be found in the Social Sciences (shelf mark 300 and above) section of the library, including subjects such as civil rights, suffragist movement, criminology, history, geography, political science, sociology and research methods.
