Anatomy.tv: Anatomy and Physiology Online
An interactive digital learning tool that comprises 19 fully interactive body-system modules. It includes interactive 3D models, narrated animations and illustrations, pronunciation guides, dissection slides, and other multimedia; as well as more than 250 clinical topics and case studies.

CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature)
A large and in-depth nursing research database, offering journal articles, book extracts and evidence-based care sheets.

ClickView
This is a video collection of over 19,000 titles including current TV recordings.
   
Complete Issues
Articles, statistics, personal accounts and links to websites on a wide range of topics. 
For Complete Issues username and password, click above. You may need to log into Moodle using the button at the top right of the screen and enter your college username and password. Alternatively, ask at the library desk. 

Emerald Insight
Global publisher with a large portfolio of online journals and books.

Gale News, Business and Reference
Access to a large range of online reference materials including journals, newspaper archives and e-books.

Issues Online
The online version of the Donnellan Issues series that includes key facts, statistics and articles on a wide range of topical issues.

National Library of Scotland
A range of databases from the National Library of Scotland. They cover many subject areas and include e-books, newspapers, journals, audio-visual resources and images. You need to register on the website to gain access to the resources. 

Very Short Introductions
Expert authors combine facts, analysis, new insights, and enthusiasm to offer concise and original introductions to a wide range of subjects.

Most of the print books for your course will be found in Social Services (shelf mark 360 and above) and Medical Science (610 and above) sections of the LLC.

All books on health and social care can be found in the LLC catalogue.

The LLC also has a range of ‘English for speakers of other languages (ESOL)’ books, as well as a selection of fiction books.

E-books for health and social care can be found on the catalogue or through our providers E-book Central, VLe Books and E-books for Further Education. Further e-books are available through the 'Useful websites and Open Access resources' section above.

A range of academic DVD’s on various subjects, as well as a selection of movies, are available for loan. These may be borrowed for one week and can be requested from other campus LLCs if not available at your own.

The official body who are responsible for inspection of standards of care in Scotland, with information on inspection reports and professional guidance.

Inclusive Language Guide
The Inclusive Language Guide helps people think about how the way they write can subvert or inadvertently reinforce intersecting forms of inequality. The language recommended is drawn from specialist organisations which provide advice on language preferred by marginalized people, groups and communities.

International Health Care Outcomes Index 2022
A published paper which ranks the performance of the UK health care system with that of 18 similar,
wealthy countries since 2000 or the earliest year for which data is available. It covers the
level of health spending, overall life expectancy, the health care outcomes of the major
diseases and the outcomes for treatable mortality and childbirth.

Knowledge Network NHS
The national knowledge management platform for health and social care in Scotland, providing access to databases, journals and e-books, and evidence summaries to support decisions at point of care.

NHS Scotland
Scotland’s health service online, providing information on healthcare, hospitals and local services, staff vacancies and new publications.

The Point of Care Foundation
An online guide supporting clinical, patient experience and quality teams to draw on patient experience data to improve quality in healthcare.

See Me
Website of a Scottish programme which works to end mental health discrimination, funded by the Scottish Government and Comic Relief. The site provides guidance on understanding and caring for those who have mental health issues and what support is on offer.

Different Minds – Autism awareness and understanding
Website created by the Scottish Government written in partnership with autistic people, providing guidance, factual information and personal experiences.

Scottish Government – Health
Online access to information on health services, social care, healthy living, resources, Scottish policies and legislation.

Social Care Online
The UK’s largest database of information and research on all aspects of social care and social work.

Social Services Knowledge Scotland
Website and digital library dedicated to social services, providing links to e-books and e-journals for research and practice.

Who Cares? Scotland
A national voluntary organisation, working with care experienced young people and care leavers across Scotland.

All students may borrow up to 6 items for up to 4 weeks. Loan periods may be extended if no one else has requested the items. Renewals can be made in person, by phone, email or via the catalogue. Items can be reserved through our 'Click and Collect' facility on the catalogue.

Multifunctional print devices are available in each campus LLC, for black and white and colour printing, photocopying and scanning to email, and students are provided with print credit automatically at the start of the semester.

Computers in the LLCs can be booked for personal study through the 'Book a PC' link at the very top of this page, or through the 'MyNCL' app.
